The Mojave Desert is an arid rain-shadow desert in California, United States.
The nine solar power plants in the Mojave Desert are called Solar Energy

Generating Systems (SEGS), which were built in the 1980s. The solar power plants at the Mojave Desert were the first commercial solar plant.

The entire solar power plants in the Mojave Desert have a combined capacity of 354 megawatts (MW), making it the largest solar power installation in the world before Ivanpah Solar Power Facility Completed in 2014. There are also plans to build more solar plants in the Mojave Desert.

The Mojave Desert in the United States houses the world's largest solar power plant. It covers 1000 acres (4 km) of solar reflectors. An astonishing ninety percent of the world's currently commercially produced solar power is produced by it.
