A boomtown is a place that started out as a small town but has suddenly gone through an economic growth. This may be a town that started with nothing but was able to establish itself based on the different things that it offered. There are a lot of boomtowns now that are considered to be ghost towns.

Some of them had thriving businesses in the past but because of change, what supported their economic growth also stopped. There are also some that have become ghost towns because of war, natural disasters, and some were stopped by the government. It would be fascinating to see these types of towns right now.
