Certain cultures will find some foods repellant because of their beliefs and so recipes from such communities will not contain those foods. For instance, in India the cow is sacred, so much so that it is allowed to roam the streets freely despite the traffic chaos it causes. There is no way that Indians could bring themselves to eat beef, therefore their recipes never contain beef. Some cultures believe offal is unclean.

A societal belief around food and eating will determine what ingredients can be included in recipes. In addition, some foodstuffs are revered. Spices are considered essential in many countries, their choice in cooking a practised skill. These will be shown in the recipes used.

Spaghetti squash is a pretty incredible veggie. With a drizzle of olive oil and 45 minutes in the oven, the unassuming squash transforms into tender, spaghetti-like strands. Because winter squash are always tough to cut, be sure to start with a sharp knife (refer to our guide if you’re unsure how to sharpen your knife) and slice the squash lengthwise. After you’ve sliced a little more than three-quarters of the way through, you can break the two halves apart with your hands. And that’s it! No more cutting necessary—the squash does the rest of the work on its own. Before you roast it, you’ll want to scoop out the seeds—which can be tossed in oil and spices and roasted for a seasonal snack. Use your hands to rub the squash halves in oil (being sure to cover the edges and the cavity), then place it cut-side down on the baking sheet. You’ll know it’s ready when the squash feels tender when pierced and the underside becomes beautifully golden brown.

If you’re serving the squash as a side dish, scrape the strands out of the squash with a fork, then top with salt, a few grinds of black pepper, and freshly-grated Parmesan. But don’t stop there. Top with a black bean slaw and avocado for a lightened-up burrito bowl (which can be served directly in the squash!) or serve with marinara sauce for a healthier take on traditional spaghetti. When choosing a squash, keep in mind that the larger the squash, the better the flavor.

Chocolate yogurt cake is obviously a chocolate cake that has an ingredient of yogurt in it. This usually makes the cake more moist as a result. To make the cake, warm up the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the pan. Sprinkle cocoa powder in the bottom of the pan.

Then mix together a little less than a cup of cocoa powder with a couple of teaspoons of baking powder, less than a teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt. Mix separately a cup of yogurt with a cup of milk and less than half of a cup of water. Also mix in a capful of vanilla. Mix in a little less than a stick of butter with a little over a cup of sugar in another bowl. Then beat in two eggs one at a time. Add the mixtures together and bake for an hour.

Yogurt smoothies are a refreshing and healthy drink that can be consumed during any time of day. These smoothies can be a part of a diet or just a refreshing drink to have on a hot summer day. To make the yogurt smoothie, combine in a blender a cup of yogurt, a little less than half a cup of milk with a spoonful of honey and a capful of vanilla. Add the fruit that you would like.

You can add two or more different types of fruits, but it should measure about a cup of fruit. The last ingredient is ice. Fill the remainder or a cup or two of ice in the blender. Blend on high until the smoothie meets your consistency.

Fruit infused water can be a very good thing. Not only does the fruit add even more nutrients to water but also adds a flavorful burst. Fruit infused water is easy to make. You just have to slice up the fruit you are using and add it to the water. Sometimes herbs are used in conjunction with the fruit.

It depends on what type of cake you are going to bake. It would be hard to exactly pinpoint the exact answer because not everybody prefers the same cake. Some would want to make chiffon cake, Japanese cotton cake, pumpkin roll cake, bundt cake, angel food cake, cheesecake, shortcake, spongecake, pound cake, banana cake, apple cake, blueberry cake, coconut cake or chocolate cake. However, for the purpose of this question, we’ll stick with chocolate cake.

For this kind cake, you would need 250 grams of butter (unsalted or salted, but it is highly preferred to use unsalted butter), 180 grams of caster sugar or superfine sugar (although you can use the normal white sugar), 4 large eggs, 220 grams of cake flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of baking soda, 2 tablespoon of chocolate powder and 250 ml of milk. Preheat your oven to 320 Fahrenheit (160 Celsius) and bake it for about 50 minutes (you can use a toothpick to check if it is fully baked on the inside).
