Companies will often pay up to $10,000 to remove pollution if it is covered by a “covered peril”. A covered peril is just something that the insurance company covers. If it the pollution isn’t covered by the insurance company, they can chose not to cover this specific issue. Most companies will chose not to cover anything not specifically listed in their policies because that’s money out of their pockets.
However, I know little about insurance. This is what I have found by doing my research and should be double checked. Insurance laws change and can be quite complicated, so take my answer with some caution. I may have found old information without realizing it. For now, that’s all I can offer you.

With Conditions think "C" for conduct. This is the portion of the contract that describes rights and duties of the insured and the insurance company.
