Population Questions and Answers (Q&A)

The answer is A. The diffusion of the Industrial Revolution.

The Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 1700s and lasted through all of the 19th century. By the 1850s, the Industrial Revolution made its way to the rest of Europe. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the quality and standard of life also increased. This rise in the quality of life and urbanization made people lead healthier lives and mortality rates dropped in all of Europe. In addition to this, the advent of the Industrial Revolution created a labor economy and the requirement of human labor increased with the rise of factories. The greed for money meant that married couples among the lower classes bred more children so that they could grow up and start working. This attitude was found only in the worker's families whereas the richer families bred fewer children where the concept of nuclear families begun to develop.

Let's see how far my knowledge stretches

A lot of people are aware that species and population are different from each other but they are not sure exactly how different these things are. Species is known to be a group of individuals that are similar to each other.

These species will have the tendency to interbreed with each other so that they can increase their population. Obviously, population refers to the number of individuals that are available for a specific group of species.

For example, the population may refer to the number of people that are available in one country or it may say the number of people who inhabit a certain island. The ones who are living on the island are the species.

Correct answer is option A – Will double in 30 years.

According to the information provided above, the population of Rwanda is most likely going to double in 30 years. Since there are more young children and teenagers than adults in the population, the population will double.

The population has not stopped growing, if it has, there wouldn’t be more young children and teenagers than the adults. The population is not showing a constant growth rate, if it was, there wouldn’t be more young children in the population. The population will not decrease in the next 30 years because the young children and the teenagers would have begun to produce their own offspring which indirectly increases the overall population.

Parametric tests are a statistical test that is done based on a specific assumption made about the population. It test has information about the population parameter. Example: knowing the distribution of body weight of an entire city. The measure of central tendency used in the parametric test is the mean value.

If parameters about the population are correct, the result of the parametric analysis is often more accurate and precise than a nonparametric test. A nonparametric test is a statistical test that is not based on an assumption about the population. Unlike, parametric analysis, it doesn’t rely on parameters of the community. It is often used when the sample size is small. The measure of central tendency used in the nonparametric test is the median.

India currently has a population of 1.339 billion. This is one of the Southeast Asian countries that will come with a different terrain from the Himalayan Peaks up to the Indian Ocean coastline. The way I worked it out was:

50 geese initially captured & marked
130 geese spotted with binoculars during second trial
30 geese of those 130 are marked

therefore, if we use the Capture Mark Recapture method, this equation would look like:

(50 x 130) divided by 30 = 6500 / 30 = 217

Birth Rate - Death Rate

Birth Rate - Death Rate

Birth Rate - Death Rate

The correct answer to this question is option A - Birth rate high, death rate high and fluctuating, total population low and constant. In the first stage of the demographic transition model, birth rate (calculated as a number of annual births per one thousand people) is usually on the high side, and so is death rate (calculated as a number of annual deaths per one thousand people).

This causes a flux in the total population. Because the birth rate and the death rate are said to be relatively equal, there is only a little change in the total population. In stage one of the demographic transition model, the high birth rate is influenced by nations that depend heavily on manual labor such as agricultural practices, because a larger home meant more labor force. The high death rate also influences the birth rate as a nation seeks to achieve balance in society.

There is a little difference between population variance and sample variance, although the common thing with them is variance. And variance is all about how a single value depicts the distribution of individual values in a set around the mean. The major difference between population variance and sample variance is actually on how you calculate the two. There are different ways of calculating variance, which simply means you can calculate it from the population or from a sample.

The only difference between population variance and sample variance is that after you might have calculated the deviation from the mean, and you have squared it and summed it up. The sum is divided by the total number of the items being calculated. At this point, the denominator is calculated differently. For population variance, the sum is divided by the total number of the items, while in sample variance, the denominator is gotten by subtracting one from the total number of the items being calculated.
