Both science and philosophy are two major branches of knowledge that are connected in some ways. I believe science and philosophy work hand in hand. Philosophy can be regarded as a comprehensive system of belief that longs after the truth through reasoning. If we look at the subject ''science'' very well, it was borne out of intuition about certain possibilities of life. Most of what is made through science are basically things that started as ideas through reasoning and eventually are made seen to people.

In the same vein, philosophy is also depending on a lot of scientific theories in a bid to arrive at some certain possibilities or truth of life. However, if we should consider the fact that philosophy is a body of knowledge that came earlier before science, then it will be greatly accepted regarding science as a part of philosophy. And that's why you will see subjects like the philosophy of science.

The fact that there are so many things that are yet to be explained through science suggests there are a lot of things beyond science. While we appreciate the various works of science and the humongous contributions humanity has enjoyed through it, there are indeed fundamental things of life that are yet to be revealed through science. For example, how do you describe why the truth about the creation and existence of man hasn't been so much revealed through science. The truth about the existence of God is another thing.

The belief that most of the things that exist in the physical are just things that have been predetermined in the spiritual realm is another big issue. Also, we have so many people operating in different dimensions of spiritual influence, and yet there seems to be no explanation. These are just a few examples out of many things that make science seems limited in its operation to provide convincing information about some things.

Based on the concept of fact and opinion, a fact can best be described as something that can be proven true. Everyone accepts the truth. Therefore, facts are researched and then accepted, whereas the truth is already accepted and it does not have to be looked up to determine if that is accurate.

Sometimes, facts are derived from conclusions that someone draws based on the research that they did to prove something. However, the truth is not based on conclusions. For a truth to be real, it must be witnessed by someone. Some facts are not believed around the world whereas the truth is believed by everyone. Statistics could be considered facts, but they would not be apart of the truth.

Most of the time, when a question like this is asked, people tend to go for Socrates. The truth is there was someone like Thales of Miletus who is more qualified to receive the title. Thales of Miletus was born many years before Socrates. He was a philosopher, mathematician, and even an astronomer. His sets are usually regarded as pre-Socratic philosophers. Thales of Miletus was named the father of philosophy because he seriously searched for so many things that provided explanations to a lot of natural phenomena.

Philosophers of this time were known for questions like; ''how does this come into being?'', ''what explanation can we give to the plurality of things found in nature?'’, etc. However, the father of western philosophy goes to Socrates. He was known for being a philosopher that gave explanations for most things that are still relevant till today. Also, he was able to raise many philosophers like Alcibiades and Plato.

I think we can only make assumptions about who the real founder of philosophy was. The truth is, there were a lot of philosophers even before Socrates who happened to be the father of western philosophy was born. Majority of these philosophers didn't have written records of their own, and as a result, people don't have much information about them. These people actually started various philosophical methods that are being used today. Examples of those philosophical methods are; rational argument, questioning, critical thinking, etc.

Even Socrates who happened to be the father of western philosophy didn't have most of his records written. However, Plato, a student of Socrates, can still be regarded as the founder of philosophy. The reason is that he was the first to have his own ideas, thoughts are written down. Although, most of the things that Plato wrote were things he learned from his master. Also, most of his philosophies were gotten through dialogues

The importance of philosophy is so much that its reflection can be seen in people's life, and its impacts can be felt in society. It is annoying how people are comfortable living unguided; doing all sorts of irrational things. This is happening because many people do not understand the huge impact of the mind that exists in them. One of the importance of philosophy is that it makes you a better person. The study of philosophy will make you aware of every step you take. Philosophy isn't just about thinking but rational thinking.

When you engage your mind, it has a way of pushing you far ahead of others, because you already have solutions to what they don't know. Philosophy is also important because it makes us understand our world. As a matter of fact, there are so many things about this life we would have had no explanation for, if not for the huge contributions of philosophy.

Driving down to Knowledge town

Sapere and conoscere have the same English meaning, but they are dialectically different. Sapere and conoscere in French are referred to as 'connaitre' and 'savoir,' in Welsh as 'adnabod' and 'gwybod,' and in Portuguese as 'conhecer' and 'saber.' Basically, sapere gives information about factual things, while conoscere can be used to relate to a person, animal, place, or thing. Though they depict the same meaning, their usages are different. Sapere is usually used to depict concepts, while conoscere is used basically to relate abstract things.

Sapere is mostly used in sentences as the irregular present indicative, while conoscere is used more in sentences as a regular present indicative. Sapere means "to know about certain information or thing, or to have knowledge." On the other hand, conoscere means "being familiar with something or someone." Sapere depicting 'know' for example, 'I don't know the color of the car'; while for example for conoscere, 'I just got to know about him yesterday.'

I really don't think this is true. Philosophy shouldn't be regarded as a waste of time in its entirety. Although, philosophy may seem dependent and limited in its ability to arrive at a particular truth, nevertheless, it has been able to make so many contributions by coming with thought-provoking issues that could be analyzed through other means of knowledge like science. A lot of people see philosophy as a waste of time because they have little or no understanding of what it entails.

Philosophy will make you be logical and critical in your reasoning. This is actually the bedrock for most discoveries and inventions we enjoy today. The reality of what philosophy covers is the main reason why we have a subject like the philosophy of science. However, if we are to discuss the relevance of philosophy in relation to physical things or something practical, then philosophy can be seen as a waste of time.

Philosophy literally means love of wisdom. The history of philosophy can be dated back to the era of pre-Socratic philosophers in the 6th century. These ancient philosophers started by asking questions about some things about life. Majority of those questions were about the truth of creation, the plurality of creatures, and many others. However, they were able to give some explanations about those things through critical thinking, argument, questioning, and other philosophical methods. Also, the huge contributions of Socrates after many years also made philosophy an interesting discipline to the people of that time.

They were able to relate philosophy to medicine, moral values, beauty, art, politics, physics, science, and many others. A lot of these contributions are the basis for most scientific methods that are operational today. Philosophy has to do with a strong desire for knowledge through critical and rational thinking. And as this is being done, knowledge is being formed and the truth is being revealed
