The first rib joins the sternum at the sternocostal joint. The correct answer is D. This is actually a really interesting concept, since there are seven pairs of ribs that connect in this way.

These are what biologists call “true” ribs or “fixed” ribs because they actually connect to the sternum by bone. The rest of the ribs connect via cartilage (false ribs) or not at all (false floating ribs). It’s an interesting concept, isn’t it?

The rest of these answers are false because they are not close enough to the sternum. Besides, wouldn’t it be weird to think of a bone being connected to another behind a woman’s nipple? It’s the place a baby feeds, after all! There are other uses for the other answers, too.

If you go into the hospital to have a surgery done where you do not have to be admitted into the hospital to stay overnight you are considered outpatient.

You are also considered outpatient if your doctor sends you to the hospital for x-rays or other diagnostic tests only. Another way that you might be considered outpatient is if you go into the emergency room for something and are treated but not admitted into the hospital.
