Element Questions and Answers (Q&A)

Zinc is traditionally denoted as Zn and therefore, the chemical symbol of zinc is Zn. It is a transition metal. Zinc has an atomic number of 30.

Zinc is similar to magnesium in chemical structure as both elements exhibit just one normal oxidation state of plus two (+2).

Zinc is brittle at room temperature and it becomes malleable when it gets above 100 degree Celsius.
Zinc belongs to group 12 elements, 4th period and the d block on the periodic table. Zinc is commonly used in galvanization when other metals are subjected to rusting.

The alloy and the composite are known to be highly similar to each other. The composite is made out of two or more components that will not be composed of metals. The alloy is also composed of two or more components but it should have some metal as a part of the mixture.

Take note that alloys and composites are known to have some differences depending on the type of materials that are usually placed or mixed together. Steel is an example of an alloy because it comes with some metal materials that will ensure that it will do exactly what it is supposed to do. Some of the materials retain their original properties.

In science, you may see the terms “compound” and “element” quite often. That is because they are words that are used often in describing science concepts. The main difference between compounds and elements is what makes them up. Elements are found on the periodic table. Each element is made up of atoms. These atoms are the same. Each compound is made up of a combination of elements.

Therefore, it seems that the elements are smaller than the compounds or simpler based on their make-up. Elements are represented on the periodic table by a symbol. The compounds are represented by a formula which may include the element’s symbol. An example of an element is Cu for copper. An example of a formula for a compound is H2O for water.

Quick sort and merge sort are two sorting techniques used in arranging items that seem complex in a definite proportion and order, so that each item being sorted can be easily located. However, there are differences between quick sort and merge sort. The differences between quick sort and merge sort can be discussed in relation to the various ways the two are used. Quick sort entails the special way of dividing items into a simpler form or subsets so that each sub problem can be easily sorted.

The process adopts three main stages in sorting items. This includes, the identification of the pivot element, elements less than the pivot element and the element greater than the pivot element, after which the items are sorted. While merge sort has to do with the breaking down of items into two subgroups, after which they are sorted. The sorted items are then merged together for a final sorting process.

Vessel elements and tracheids are responsible for the transportation and circulation of water within the plant body. They are components of the xylem, and they are collectively called tracheary elements. Although vessel elements and tracheids have similar functions, they are different.

Vessels of elements are formed by the piling up of many cells. A vessel is a syncyte. The average length is about 10cm. The cells are shorter and broader than tracheids. The end of the wall is often perforated. Vessels of elements are more efficient in water conduction than tracheids.

Tracheids are formed from single individual cells, and they are not syncyte. The average length is about 1 mm. The cells of tracheids are longer and narrower than vessels. Tracheids end wall without perforations. They are also less efficient in water conduction.

There is no big difference between AHU and RTU; this is because RTU is just a type of AHU. AHU is the acronym for Air Handling Unit, while RTU is the acronym for Rooftop unit. AHU is a machine which helps in circulating and conditioning the air in order to create a perfect atmosphere that is not too warm or too cold. There are so many parts of AHU like cooling component, heating component, and there is a part called mixing component. Also, there is humidifier, vibration isolator and a device for heat control and recovery.

Since RTU is a type of AHU, all the various components and devices present in AHU are also present in RTU. The slight difference between them is that RTU is mostly fixed on the rooftop, and that is why it is called a rooftop unit. There are other types of AHU. They are; Makeup Air Units, Mall Air Handlers.

A neutron star is a celestial body, which is less than 30 km. it consists of closely packed neutrons. Theory suggests that they form due to the collapse of the star. They can also form after a supernova explosion. However, it should not be too big, or it will result in the formation of black hole instead of a neutron star.

Hence, we can say that a neutron star is a red supergiant that is going into a supernova that is on the smaller side. This is because, if it is too big, it will form a black hole. Taking these celestial rules into account, one can easily navigate the terminology of space and understand the different concepts.

Ununoctium is the heaviest element that is man made. Uranium is the heaviest naturally occuring element though. There are various factors that might determine heavy, however. When it come to having the highest density, the elements osmium and iridium take the cake. The element that has the most atomic weight is oganesson.

Like many things in science, the exact answer depends on the exact question. Defining heaviest can be tricky. The heaviest in atomic weight is one answer and the heaviest in density is yet another. That is why science is known to be specific and factually based because one has to specify everything in order to come up with the exact right answer.

Elements are compounds that cannot be broken down in any form or fashion. There are over one hundred substances that fallinto this classification. They cannot be interverted either. Molecules, however are combinations of chemicals. They have two or more atoms which makes them a whole different thing than an element is.

Elements are distinguished by an atomic number that denotes the protons that lie within the nuclei of its atoms. Molecules contain less energy that their parental atoms do and that is another way that elements and molecules are different. For those who study or research elements and molecules, they aren't very similar really once you know which is which. It is only easy to get them mixed up when you are not sure what either one of them are.
