Ecosystem Questions and Answers (Q&A)

The answer to this question is 4. The level of this food pyramid that represents the largest amount of organisms would have to be the producers. Although this question may have tricked you, it is the producers who always have the highest number of organisms in the food pyramid. In order for consumers to be consumers, they must have producers who product things for them to consume.

Consumers can not thrive or even exist without the producers. So the tertiary consumers and the secondary consumers would not be there if there was no food to eat. The tertiary consumers are the ones that make sure that there is enough food for the other consumers.

The answer to this is letter D. Niche refers to the type of roles that the various organisms play in order to keep the ecosystem in good, working order. If in case you do not understand this well yet, think about what you do in school. Do you play in a school band? Are you a singer? Your role in school is your niche.

This is the same with the organisms that can be found in the ecosystem. They have their own niches too. For example, is a certain organism a decomposer? Is it an organism that produces the food that consumers need? These are roles that organisms will continue playing as long as the ecosystem is working well.
