Hopelessness and Depression are two words that are most times used interchangeably, especially when you are discussing issues that are psychological in nature. Although both words are referring to a period that is filled with sadness. However, there are some little differences between them. Hopelessness means a period of despair; a period that seems you longer have any hope on something. It is an emotional state of mind that is characterized by the darkness of the heart because you no longer see any light in the situation you are passing through.

During this period, it seems all doors have been closed, and there's no means through which help can visit you. Depression, on the other hand, is a mental disorder, and it is a period of unhappiness. There are so many signs that will show a person that is feeling depressed. A depressed person will be isolating himself, and he will always be in a low mood. This will also affect his thinking, and at this point, if proper care is not shown, a depressed person might be thinking suicide as the only way out of his current situation

Depression is a common problem in the United States, and all over the world. The United States tends to focus on depression more than other countries because some other countries do not have the resources to deal with depression.

The United States has a high rate of depression because we are able to diagnose more people with depresssion. I would expect that other countries would have similar rates if they were able to diagnose them all.

Manic depression is often called bipolar disorder, which includes clinical depression as part of it’s a diagnosis. Depression includes feeling sad or unhappy for an uninterrupted period of at least two weeks. It includes feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness, crying for no reason, and even losing interest in activities you once enjoyed. Mania is the distinguishing characteristic of bipolar disorder, and it is different from clinical depression. A person who is bipolar has experienced one or more manic episodes of feeling overly happy, excited or confident, feeling exceedingly irritable, aggressive and wired, having uncontrolled thoughts or speech, or engaging in unsafe behavior or taking more risks than you usually would. The hallmark of manic depression is a severe episode of elevated moods followed by a period of feeling very down.

Constipation is not typically a physical symptom associated with depression. However, the majority of people suffering from depression will experience a loss of appetite, a decrease in their sex drive, and changes in their sleeping habits. Keep in mind though that depression can affect everybody differently. For example, while some people suffering from depression will sleep longer at night and take more frequent naps during the day, others have trouble sleeping at all.

They can suffer from insomnia or restless sleep, causing them to be tired throughout the day. By keeping an eye out for physical signs of depression, you may be able to recognize depressive behaviors in your loved ones. This can allow you to help them get the treatment they need.

Although there are many alternatives on how you can successfully overcome depression, it is still best to seek professional help first especially when the emotions you are feeling becomes intolerable or unbearable. Follow the advice of the professional and make sure not to skip whatever medication he or she prescribes because it is one of the many things that can help you feel better. If ever you become depressed and you are still unsure whether you want to seek a professional help, you can try exercising so you can divert your attention into something more positive.

You can also start writing because it can surely help you. Another thing, which a lot of people choose not to do, is to connect with your family and friends because they can support you and give you a peace of mind.
