When you are bathing an unconscious patient and noticed that there are a redness and swelling at the IV insertion site, report it immediately to a nurse. The IV line supplies the medications and fluids to the patient and when a swelling and redness in the area of the IV line appeared, the health of the unconscious patient is on the line.

Whenever you will encounter this in the future, first you must stay calm. Elevate the limb. Even though the patient is unconscious and might not feeling discomfort, it expresses love and care for the patient. Call for a nurse to report the incident so they can give it aid as soon as possible.
