Testicular cancer is the cancer of the testes. Cancer can take place in many different organs including the lungs, breasts, or throat. When this happens, the patient will usually need to go through getting radiation or chemotherapy. There are other forms of treatment besides these, but these are the main ones.
The purpose of these treatments is to get rid of the cancer. However, there are things that should be done to make sure that the cancer doesn’t form in the first place or that it doesn’t grow. Women can do self-checks on their breasts to see if there are any lumps.
A nurse usually a male nurse will perform a testicular self-examination to determine if there are any lumps in the testes. To do this, it is best to examine after the patient takes a shower.
Nurses and other health care workers are the experienced people in our community who diagnose and treat medical conditions that we get. However, there are many more things that we can do to take care of ourselves. We are ultimately responsible for our own health by using preventative measures.
One of these things that we can do is to conduct self-examinations. Usually, the first time someone learns that they have cancer can be through self-examinations because they can feel for lumps.
Women are pressed for conducting their own self-examination of their breasts. While in the shower, they can conduct this quick exam to determine if there are any lumps. Men can conduct monthly testicular self-examinations because testicular cancer is a highly curable type of cancer.
