Biome Questions and Answers (Q&A)

There are different types of biomes that are available in this world. The biome that you live in will depend on your current location. There are some who live in the grasslands while there are also some who live in the desert. Some are perfectly fine living near the tropical rainforest while others love being at a Tundra. Take note that the type of animals that can be found per biome will also differ.

This is actually one way for you to determine what type of biome that you live in – you would base it on the animals that you can normally see. For example, it will be normal to see an Arctic fox, an Arctic hare, and a Polar Bear in a Tundra Biome. While you will find weasels, reindeer, and squirrels in the Taiga biome.

The largest terrestrial biome on earth is the taiga. This is defined as being a forest that has a lot of evergreens and coniferous trees. These don’t lose their leaves over the winter. There are many pockets of this kind of territory over the entire world.

I mean, there are small wooded areas near my home that have trees that don’t lose their leaves this time of year. It’s absolutely beautiful and breathtaking to see a line of pine or evergreen trees on a snowy day. It’s followed closely by the desert, then the deciduous forest, then the tundra.

However, if we’re just talking what the largest biome on earth is - terrestrial or not - it’s the marine biome. That covers 75% of the world, since three-quarters of the earth are covered in water. That’s really all there is to that.

Despite being a natural phenomenon, biological magnification is often triggered by anthropogenic factors. Some of these include organic containments, agricultural and industrial wastes, pollution from plastics, and heavy metals from mining. The release of toxic substances and pollutants in the environment, such as the seas, air, and land, are problematic.

These practices result in the end product being the accumulation of toxins and harmful chemicals. The concentration eventually accumulates and gets absorbed by lower organisms in the food chains such as fish, earthworms, and plants. Agricultural pesticides and chemical fertilizers are highly toxic and often find their way into the soils, rivers or lakes, or seas through surface stormwater runoff. Organic containments, such as personal care products and pharmaceuticals, also cause harm.

There are seven biomes, and the one you describe fits temperate forests and also grassland. This biome suits a wide variety of mammals, insects and birds. For instance, deer, bears, and wolves.

Many small mammals are well suited here, and among the birds found would be raptors and songbirds. Biomes that fall into this category can be found in Europe, USA, Japan, parts of Canada but less often in South Asia.
