Biochemistry Exam Questions and Answers (Q&A)

The correct answer is option A – II and III Deoxyribonucleic acid, commonly known as DNA is the material that carries the genetic information of living organism.

DNA replication is semi conservative, this means that each strand of DNA serves as a template strand, each newly synthesized double helix is a combination of one old (original) and one new DNA strand. During replication, complementary bases old strand are added to the new synthesized strand. Guanine is the complementary base of cytosine, and adenine is the complementary of thymine. I and IV are not correct because they look exactly like the template DNA, but we know that complementary nucleotides are on the newly synthesized strands, not identical strands.

This question has the wrong diagram. As of December 27th, 2017, the diagram shows different compounds. It does not show a protein transport channel with numbered places. Therefore, I cannot answer this question correctly. However, I can say that the polar amino acids would be on the edge of the cytoplasm and right beside that.

The polarity of the amino acids would give the cell membrane a pocket inside that is hydrophobic (IE, it repels water incredibly well) while the cytoplasm and the outside parts of the cell membrane are hydrophilic (they love water). This channel allows proteins and other items that are small enough to squeeze through the membrane without any help from the cell, also known as passive diffusion.

The correct answer to this question is D, Would release PTH-ala and the peptide met-lys-ser . PTH stands for parathyroid hormone. It may also be referred to as parathyrin or parathormone. These parathyroid glands secrete this hormone.

It regulates the serum, and this is done through the effects it has on intestines, kidneys, and bones. Peptides are short chains that contain amino acids monomers. The chains are joined together by peptide bonds. They are different than proteins because of their size. This type of question would be found on a biology test for a student studying this science.

This is true. If you are not too familiar with pH, this refers to the scale that is being used to determine the acidity of certain substances. Based on the pH level, you will be able to tell if the item is acidic or alkaline. You will know if the thing is acidic if the number that will be gotten in the pH level is low.

The substance is essential if the name that will be received on the scale is high. If you would like to see a material that is neither acidic or basic, you have to look at the water. This can be placed right in the middle of the scale. There are still ongoing experiments about mixtures that may have basic and acidic substances.

A hydrogen bond occurs when a more electronegative atom such as fluorine (F), nitrogen (N), or oxygen (O), is attracted to hydrogen (H). Any atoms that are less electronegative than hydrogen cannot form a hydrogen bond. When a hydrogen atom is bonded with another hydrogen atom, the bond they form is call intramolecular bond.

Intermolecular on the other hand is when hydrogen bonds with a different kind of atom. Not all hydrogen bonds have the same strength. An HO−H···:OH+3 has a 4.3 kcal.mol strength while the F−H···:F has 38.6 kcal/mol bonding strength. The hydrogen may be the proton acceptor or donor depending if the electronegative atom is covalently bonded or not to it.
