Lichtenstein's paintings are called "pop art." His pictures are done in comic book style so that as small illustrations, the dots seem to "fill in" the outlines of sketches, but as larger works, they are distinctly dotty. In the summer of 1961, Lichenstein created "Popeye," which was one of his first pop paintings.
He used a complex technique which involved cropping images to create entirely new, dramatic pictures, which is clear in his picture called, “Drowning Girl.” His source image was the woman's boyfriend standing on a boat above her. He also challenged the existing views about definitions of "fine art." He demonstrated to his fans and naysayers alike that borrowing from low culture had unique advantages as well.

The Romans invented concrete to erect taller and more stable structures. They developed the arch wheel and the trade wheel. These wheels gave them a significant mechanical advantage. The Romans also invented the onager, which is a very powerful sling catapult for launching heavy rock projectiles.
The catapults of the Middle Age were modeled after the onager. The most significant achievement of the Romans was what historians call the Roman architectural revolution, or the concrete revolution. This entailed the extensive use of concrete, the barrel arch, and the vaulted arch.
These three elements propelled the Romans well beyond Greek methods of construction. Oddly enough, the Romans also invented ice-cream. They mixed fruit like berries and snow from the mountains around Rome and froze it again, using snow. The Romans also discovered fast curing cement, which was very important to them.
A theme, in literature, is an idea or thought that recurs. This is often a deeper meaning to the text and can be harder to figure out than other literary devices (similes, metaphors, irony, etc.). It can be hard to understand, since one would have to read a text more than once or twice and read it closely. The theme can be one of morality or one of some other kind.
Common themes are things like repentance (think The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne), racism (Mark Twain’s pieces), and even the power of love (many of the books that have come out in the last decade or so focus on this one). The American school system focuses a lot on theme. Tests often ask for the theme of a short story, poem, novel, etc.
A plan is customarily any diagram or list of steps with details of timing and resources used to achieve one objective to do something. A plan can also be called a plot, formula, chart or diagram. A plan is merely a formulated method of accomplishing a goal.
Often a plan that is represented as a design implies some sort of graphic representation. It could also be a top or horizontal view of an object, or a large -scale map of a small area. It may also be an orderly arrangement of parts of an overall design or objective.

Greek. Neoclassicism was born in Rome in the mid-18th century. It’s popularity spread all over Europe. Neoclassicism is a revival of the styles and spirit of classic antiquity inspired directly from the classical period, which coincided and reflected the development of philosophy and other areas of the Age of Enlightenment, and it was initially a reaction against the excesses of the proceeding Rocco style. In essence, it competed with the ideas of Romanticism. Neoclassicism is a name given to Western movements in the decorative and visual arts.
African masks are seen as part of the ceremonial costume. They are used in religious and social events to represent spirits of ancestors or to control the good and evil in the community. They come to life, as they are possessed by their spirit in the performance of the dance. The bond of nature is essential to the African and masks are used to express this relationship. The masks can also represent the spirit of the animal.
Several African tribes believe that wearing animal carvings on their masks will improve communication with animal spirits. For example, the lion is a symbol of courage, and the monkey represents comedy and friendship. Ritual ceremonies often depict deities, spirits of ancestors and mythological beings. During the ceremony, the dancer goes into a deep trance, and he communicates with his ancestors.
Art has been used for thousands and thousands of years, with evidence of some forms of art done by cavemen in the form of drawings on walls. When Neanderthals were drawing on the walls of their caves, it was used as a form of documentation, showing the way they hunted, harvested, and their everyday life.
Art is also used as a form of expressing one’s feelings and views of hardships, life, and tragic events, attempting to allow others to form feelings and to help people see the world in a different light or a new perspective. The development of art has advanced in leaps and bounds, but will never become extinct.
