Area Questions and Answers (Q&A)

To calculate circumference you can use either of the formula
C = πd or
C =2πr
Where
C = circumference
d = distance
r = radius
π = 3.14 (constant)
For this question, we will use the second formula
C = 2 3.14 51.25
C = 321.85
Round up to the nearest tenth we have = 321.9

To find the area that Pam’s mom is going to put the icing on, we have to compute for the area of one cookie and then multiply the answer by 20 because she has to put the icing on all 20 cookies.
To compute for the area of one cookie, we have to use the formula Area= pi x (radius of the cookie x radius of the cookie).
Pi=3.1416
Radius of the cookie= 2 inches
Area = 3.1416 x (2x2)
Area= 3.1416 x 4
Area of a single cookie= 12.56 inches squared

To compute for the entire area that Pam’s mom is going to put the icing on, we multiply the area of a single cookie by the number of cookies that Pam’s mom is going to put the icing on. Thus:
12.56 inches squared x 20 cookies = 251.2 inches squared
