Lincoln is the state capital of Nebraska that was named after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. This city ranks 2nd in the population of 284,736 in 2017 and is the 71st largest in the U.S. with an area of 94.267 square miles. It was founded as the Lancaster Village in 1856 and became the state capital of Nebraska. In 1867, Lancaster was renamed to Lincoln and been using the name since then.

The first people were attracted to permanently settle down in this state due to the large quantity of salt that can be found here. Many salt mines were developed in Lincoln and became the main source of income of the state until salt mines started to boom in Kansas.
