Abbreviation Questions and Answers (Q&A)

SIR is not an acronym and it does stand for anything. But I have seen a lot of people saying the word SIR is the acronym for Slave I Remain with the explanation that the word started during the reign of aBritish colonial who would want Indians to be addressing them as Sirs. This is not true because the word 'Sir' is being used in the United Kingdom untill today.

However, Sir is used as a sign of respect or honor for men. You can also use it instead of writing the person's name especially when you do not their names. This is used by young people as they are relating with their elders, and I have not seen a situation where a young person is regarded as Sir by an elderly person unless the young man is in a place of authority. The equivalent respect for women is 'Madam'. Also, the word can be used to honor people in authority.

According to urban dictionary, a white lie is a lie told to prevent arguments or bad feelings over something. It is told to spare someone's feelings. It is a type of lie with good intentions. An example of this is given below.

Marian asked if I could come with her to Jesse's birthday party, Jesse and I are not in good terms so I told Marian a white lie that I have to be at a church program with my family.

This example shows that I do not want to attend the party and I do not want her to feel bad that I do not want to go the party so I had to tell her a white lie.

“OML” is slang text for “Oh my Lord”. It serves the same purpose in text and in speech as the famous “OMG” that has become ubiquitous on teen girl t-shirts across the United States (and it’s usually one of only three or four different designs available without being incredibly frilly and girly or overly black and bleak). While many teen girls don’t mind this, it can be a little overwhelming.

This is slightly more obscure slang, rather than slang you hear every day. “OMG”, on the other hand, is one you hear everyday. “OML” could also mean “on my life”, so it’s best taken in context, especially when the person you’re speaking to usually gives you a string of abbreviations in text or online chatting.

There are some people who are confused whenever they are sent a message that says HMU. This stands for Hit Me Up. This is a sign that the person would like to get in touch with the person through private message. This acronym can be used in different social media sites so the next time that you want someone to message you privately, this may be the best message to send.

This is simple and straight to the point. Just make sure that the person also understands what you are trying to say though otherwise you may wait for the other person to “hit you up” without any response.

Ask me anything!

For those who do not know, this is a type of test that you can use when you want to know how kinky you are. Who knows? You may be completely satisfied with the results that you will get. I am personally interested in taking this test because I believe that I can always learn new things about myself.

I already know that I have so many likes and dislikes but there are still some things that I need to explore. This test will allow me and prompt me to become more open-minded and to start exploring more. This will also help me in the future when I want to satisfy my partner in bed too.
