Creating a scored quiz is simple and quick with ProProfs Quiz School! Start by clicking the “Create a Quiz” button on the Quiz School home page and then click “Create Scored Quiz” when you are at the “Create a Quiz” screen.

Create Scored Quiz

Follow up by adding simple quiz details, including the title of the quiz, keywords/tags, and a short description of the quiz designed to help users and students find your knowledge offering!

Create Scored Quiz Form

Once you have added the simple details, go ahead and add questions. Below is an example of a typical quiz question with answer choices. Notice that the correct choice is checked! You can check multiple answer choices as correct if there are multiple possible answers.

Multiple Choice Question

It’s always good to add some explanation after the question so the user knows why the answer is the way it is! Other times, you may want to use the explanation button to give some more background about the answer choice itself.

Add Explanation

Many Question Types Are Supported
Of course, you can add more questions – choose from multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, or essay questions. Questions can be easily deleted if necessary using the red X button on the top-right corner of the question area.
Using the 3 options listed below you can add many question types:

True/False

Multiple Choice

Multiple Response

Fill in the Blank

Short Answer

Essay

Add more questions

To create “True/False” or “Yes/No” simply add just two answer options to multiple choice. When creating a multiple choice question, if you select just one answer it becomes a “Multiple Choice”, however if you select more than one option as answer, the question is converted to “Multiple Choice”, where the user is shown a check box instead of a radio button. Similarly Short Answer is “Essay Type” with a small limit on the number of maximum words.

True/False

Multiple Choice

Multiple Response

Fill in the Blank

Short Answer

Essay

You can also set and change quiz options after you are done completing the quiz. Scoring options, messages, security options, and even color/style changes are all easily customizable! Below is an example of some of the possible scoring option choices you can make. We have made this a pass/fail quiz with a pass percentage of 70%. Note that you can set a time limit if applicable and even issue a certificate of achievement.

Quiz Options

You can change message options as shown below. Adding a quiz banner allows you to display a message on the top of every question in the quiz, which is useful for quizzes that require some shared background information (i.e. a reading passage). You can also edit the end-of-quiz message.

Quiz Options - Setup Messages

You can edit the quiz style and color using the Color tab of the options panel. Notice that the quiz is previewed in the left side of the panel.

Customize Quiz Color

Accessibility options are also important and allow you to edit security preferences for the quiz. You can add a password, hide quiz answers, and even privatize quiz comments using this tab.

Accessibility Options

Last, you need to choose a category for your quiz. Finally, click the “Create quiz” button and you will be all set!

One of the most exciting new features of Quiz is the ability to create personality quizzes with customizable result types. Personality quizzes work on a simple premise – you create result types first, then ask questions with answers that link to the different result types. Whatever result type has the highest count by the end of the quiz is the result or personality that the user will “receive,”. Start by clicking the “Create a quiz” button at the ProProfs Quiz School Main Page and then choose “Create a personality quiz”

Create a Quiz Page - Choose

Be sure to fill in all the gory details, such as quiz title, tags/keywords, and a short description of your personality quiz.

Quiz Details Form

Fill in the different result types (such as Batman & SuperMan for “Which Super Hero Are You Quiz? ”). Note that you can add formatting, such as images and different styles, to the description. When you are done creating result types, move on to the next step.

Add Result Types

Next it’s time to choose color options, messages, and security options. Accessibility is not as important for most personality quizzes but you can still set a password or change other options if you feel necessary. Color options are displayed below.

Customize Quiz Colors

Now that you’ve added all the necessary background information, it’s time to add the actual questions! Choose the appropriate category and choose to “Add questions!”

Quiz Categories

Adding questions to a personality quiz is a breeze. First, enter the question and style/edit it as you like. You can add images or hyperlinks within the question. Next, populate the answer choices as you see fit. Finally, link each answer choice to a custom result type.

Adding Questions

Here is another example of a question. Notice that the result types that are linked to each answer choice have “flipped” from the previous question – in other words, the order is not important as long as you correctly link the choices to the result types!

Adding Questions

Note, that Quiz School will show a single best suited result type as the personality of the quiz taker depending on the answers that were selected & the associated result types. The most frequently selected result type is the final answer. In case a tie, an internal intelligent tie breaking algorithm is used to figure out the best result among the tie breakers. Feel free to add more questions until you are satisfied. Finally, click the “Create quiz” button and Voila! Your personality quiz is ready.

Add More Questions

Adding password protection or modifying accessibility options is easy with ProProfs Quiz School! While editing or creating a quiz, scroll to the bottom of the page and choose the accessibility tab. Once there, you can choose to make a quiz by adding a password.

Quiz Password

NOTE: While Quiz School itself is free, if you are planning to accept payment for quizzes on your site, you can issue the password to the user after the payment clears on your site. You can even post (embed) password protected quizzes back on your site.

Accessibility Options

You can also change other quiz options. “Accept name to start quiz” requires that users enter some sort of name before beginning a quiz whereas “Show answer after quiz completion” can hide the answers so that students do not cheat or copy off of completed quizzes. This feature can also find application in online interviews where you may not want to reveal answers to your proprietary question set to quiz takers. Another application area for hiding answers can be online tests & exams.

Most of the options are self-explanatory and all are reversible so you can play around and tweak them.

Type Password

Finally, save your quiz and watch as your quiz is now password protected with all important security options.
