As a teacher or administrator, you know how hard it is to get students interested in learning. Friends, social networking sites and extracurricular activities all attract their attention more than classes and homework. But when you create a quiz online, learning becomes fun. That’s because kids get to work on the Internet using interactive tools rather than completing quizzes with plain ole paper and pen.

You might not realize that there are exceptional, free tools online that let you create a quiz that grabs your students’ interest by imbedding pictures, images and graphics. With these applications, you can use colors, custom setups and other features to develop a platform that not only teaches, but also engages.

Just because quiz tools are free doesn’t mean they are limited in features. While some are extremely basic, there are options that offer sophisticated capabilities which are still easy to use. Here are four ideas for connecting with students through online school quizzes.

1. Provide a low-stress testing environment
Most students dread the day of the big test. But you can lessen their anxiety and help improve their test scores by creating practice quizzes. Customize quiz questions, and the look and feel of the quiz, so it mimics the actual test. Giving students the ability to work through a pre-test helps them become comfortable with the types of questions they’ll be asked on a real test. And, because repetition brings remembrance, chances are they will retain the information for a longer period of time as opposed to cramming for a test.

2. Enable sharing of information
Let students discuss the school quizzes in a comment section. This enables them ask each other questions and see everyone’s feedback. Interacting with other students engages them in a way teachers alone can’t always achieve. They learn from their peers and enjoy helping and sharing information with each other.

3. Create a quiz with achievement certificates
Everyone likes to be told they are doing a great job. Go one step further and give students a certificate they can be proud of. Students work harder when there is a reward involved. A personalized certificate fosters a feeling of accomplishment. Students will want to display their certificates and before long all their classmates will want one too.

4. Offer instant, self-scoring options
Part of the anguish of test taking is waiting for your score. Look for online applications that create school quizzes with self-scoring options. As soon as the student enters his/her answer, their grade is calculated/updated so they know precisely how they are doing as they progress through the questions.

With all the technology available now, it has become much easier to offer interactive, interesting options for taking quizzes. Take some time to find a free quiz tool that empowers you to capture your students’ interest even when taking tests. With the right online application you can increase attention, encourage learning, and make taking school quizzes fun.

Quizzes posted on a corporate website are great for employee training or pre-employment questionnaires. But that’s just the beginning their usefulness. For example, generate more visitors to your website with a simple quiz that takes advantage of the viral nature of social media networks. A well thought-out quiz can also give you valuable insight into your prospects and customers, and their buying decisions. Here are three ways to use a corporate quiz to promote interaction and solicit information.

1. Get to know your customers
With online quizzes, there is no need to call customers or waste money mailing surveys. Prospects can fill out your corporate quiz online whenever they have time. Quizzes let you ask what’s important to your site visitors and what they want from your company without making customers feel intruded upon.

Create a quiz that lets visitors provide feedback about certain aspects of your products or services. You may be very surprised at their answers. You can also create a quiz testing your vendors’ or resellers’ knowledge about your products. Because these folks are charged with presenting your products or services to end users, they need to be well versed about your entire line.

2. Create a quiz to engage site visitors
Have a little fun! Quizzes utilizing trivia questions about the history of your company, or its products and services, go a long way toward engaging site visitors. They are also useful as a research tool for your marketing department.

Learn a lesson from Pepsi. They didn’t buy Super Bowl ad time this year. Instead they asked people what charity they wanted the money (which normally would have been used for advertising) donated to. This is an excellent example of how to engage site visitors while showcasing your company’s values.

3. Drive traffic through social networking
Make use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networks when you create a quiz. Send a tweet providing people with information then ask them to share their opinions by taking your quiz.

If your business has a company page or fan page on Facebook, post a comment with a link to your website asking for your followers’ opinions on your new product or service.

In addition, post links to your corporate quiz to the various groups your company belongs to within LinkedIn. This can send an entire community to your website at once. These groups can provide you with data and opinions in a matter of minutes.

When you create an interesting and relevant corporate quiz you engage your prospects, collect vital marketing intelligence, and dramatically improve customer relations.

By Sameer Bhatia © 2010, All Rights Reserved

Online quiz tools can be a valuable resource to teachers and human resource managers. They’re perfectly suited for prescreening employees, training staff, and testing students of all ages. But life isn’t all about work and school. Trivia questions you can share with friends and family are a great way to relax and have some fun. A complete online quiz tool will offer multiple types of quiz questions for all these quizzes. But which quiz questions perform best for work, school and fun?

Corporate Quiz Questions
In the corporate world there several ways you can use a quiz tool provided the tool offers the right kinds of quiz questions. Let’s say you want to create a mandatory annual training test for your staff. A quiz with multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions works well for these applications. But what if you are conducting a pre-employment interview and you want to learn as much as possible about the applicant? Then essay or short-answer quiz questions become a better choice because they mimic what you would ask in an actual interview.

Personality tests are also becoming very popular with corporations because they ensure potential employees will be a good fit for the company. You can create quiz questions using fill-in-the-blank, true/false or multiple response formats.

Educational Quiz Questions
When you make your own quiz for educational purposes you must first consider the age level of the child taking the test. For younger children you can display a picture and use multiple choice answers so the child can match the picture to the right word. For children learning to spell, display a picture and use fill-in-the-blank questions so they can spell the word associated with the image.

Multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and short-answer are good quiz questions for math tests. True/false questions work great with subjects where there is no room for interpretation on an answer. As students get older, essay questions allow them to express their thoughts about topics and can help generate thoughtful classroom discussions. With so many quiz questions to choose from, educational tests can easily be created for any age group.

Questions for Trivia Quiz Generator
Making a trivia quiz to share with family and friends is a lot of fun. An online trivia quiz generator should have several question types for you to choose from. Use fill-in-the-blank questions to learn about friends’ personalities, their favorite things to do and places to see. Test their knowledge about you with true/false or multiple-choice questions. Use your imagination and you’ll never run out of fun quizzes you can create and share with the multiple question types found in an online trivia quiz generator.

Not every quiz tool is flexible. Many only offer a limited number of quiz question formats. Take time to carefully evaluate the online quiz maker you’re considering so you can get the most advanced features possible.

By Sameer Bhatia © 2010, All Rights Reserved

Whether you work for a corporate human resources office, are a middle school teacher or just want to have some fun with your friends, finding a free test maker that offers the features you need is important. Obviously, designing an exit evaluation for employees takes an entirely different set of features than sharing a quiz about popular hairstyles with your friends on MySpace. Can you get the necessary features for all applications in one test maker? Actually, yes.

Corporate Test Maker Features
Wouldn’t it be convenient to use a single tool to create pre-employment quizzes, corporate training evaluations and customer assessments about product knowledge? When you make your own quiz for any of these (or dozens of other applications), look for a test maker that offers secure quizzes, company branding, and reporting that includes statistical and analytic data. Wonder if the questions you’ve included are too difficult or too easy? With reports pertaining to question difficulty you can easily modify your questions on the fly. You’ll also want to look for a test maker that hides quiz results so – for example – proprietary corporate answers are not shown to potential employees. Look for a quiz maker that allows customization of colors and fonts to reflect your company’s branding.

Educational Test Maker Features
When you make your own quiz for educational purposes features should include the creation of different question types, revealing of scores and displaying of corrected answers with explanations to students. That’s the bare minimum though. Look for a test maker that also allows you to create practice quizzes and display answers beside the questions. The quiz maker should provide the option of requiring students to provide their names when they take tests for tracking purposes.

The capability to set a time limit on a quiz as well as password protection will help prevent cheating. A feature allowing you to sort test takers by IP address will quickly alert you if one student took a test for another. For web security, you’ll want every quiz to open in its own, stand-alone page. And, of course, the ability to store quiz results should be mandatory in any test maker you consider. Look for premium tools that provide options for adding pictures and other images, and receiving feedback from students to enhance your student’s quiz experience. What would a good quiz tool be without a way to issue customized certificates to award achievements? All of these features combined will make for an excellent way to interact with students of every age.

Fun Quiz Features
It’s a lot of fun to make your own quiz for friends or family. Sharing it, however, can be difficult. You shouldn’t put up with quiz tools that lack features just because you’re having fun. Look for a test maker with built-in sharing capabilities that let you add quizzes on your blog, website and social media sites.

A note of caution: free quiz tools make money by selling advertising on the quizzes. This is how they are able to offer the test maker for free. But some of free quiz tools don’t police their ad content which can lead to teens and kids viewing questionable content. Look for a quiz creator that runs family friendly ads. Other features that give your quizzes a personal touch include customizable styles and colors, and the ability to upload images.

Being able to make your own quiz and share it the way you need and want to is fast and easy… if you’re using the right tool.

A comprehensive online test generator allows you to create your own quizzes for fun, education, training or blogs. Once the quiz is created the better-quality online tools allow distribution in a variety of ways to meet your testing needs. Below are 4 tips to help you determine what to look for in an online quiz generator to help you design, build and share your quizzes. Creating quizzes is fun and easy when you follow these simple steps:

Determine who is going to be taking your online quizAre you designing a quiz for your students, employees or just for your friends to have some fun? Quizzes can be created for classroom testing so students have easy access and receive immediate feedback. Companies can use quizzes for employee training and assessments. You can create and share fun quizzes with your friends, or increase your audience participation by using quizzes on your blog.

Decide on the best type of question to use for your audience

With an online quiz you can usually choose from multiple question types to ensure you find the right one for your audience. With most software you will be offered a choice of at least true/false, fill in the blank, multiple choice and short answer question types. But some online test generators have more variety of question types and allow you to shuffle questions and provide instant feedback to test takers. Make sure the quiz generator you select offers the type of questions you need.

Write down the questions and answers
Once you’ve decided what type of question you want to use, write down the questions and answers. All you need to do is log into an online test generator, type in your questions and answers and create your quiz. With your questions and answers prepared you can create a quiz in just a few minutes. Better online tools allow you to pick quiz color schemes and change the font type and size for ease of reading.

Determine how you want your audience to access the quiz
Last, decide how to distribute your online quiz so people can start taking it. Make sure the tools you select allow you to post quizzes on social networking sites, email them, or place them on your blog. If you’re using the quizzes for pre-interview purposes you should be able to post them on the company website for potential applicants to take prior to an interview. Think about which avenue will work for your audience. The best way for them to access the quiz is often directly related to why they are taking it.

Online test generators are a great resource for developing and sharing quizzes. Follow the simple tips outlined in this article and see how easy it is to create a fun quiz for your friends, a test for your students, or self assessments and training for employees.
