Vote for Your Favourite Youth-Made Video & send an Indigenous Youth to the imagineNATIVE Fest in Toronto!

Between March and May 2014, 23 Indigenous youth from seven communities participated in an innovative workshop as part of the 10th anniversary imagineNATIVE Ontario Film + Video Tour. Rather than supply the equipment, the imagineNATIVE crew did something different: the youth were instructed on how to make the videos using technology already available in their communities (iPods, point-and-shoot digital cameras, camcorders, and mobile phones ) and using editing software already installed on available computers. Of the resulting 23 videos created, seven were short-listed for your voting consideration.

The artist whose film garners the most votes will win a trip (hotel & transport) to the 2014 imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival in Toronto and attend a public screening of their work! Watch them all! Cast your vote! And tell your friends and family! Voting is open June 6 - 30th. Results will be announced by July 11.

Bio: Keaton Rickard is 18 years old. He was born in Moose Factory, ON and raised traditionally to respect family, elders and the land. He loves to learn new things, and plans on studying animation in the near future.

Bio: Jenna Visitor is 11 years old. She lives in Birch Island, Ontario and was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her hobbies are drawing and hanging out with her friends. A Shawanosowe Haunting was her first short film.

Synopsis: This film is about depression and what it's like being a teen dealing with depression. The video reflects how it looks on the surface with Taylor's voice telling what it's like inside.
Bio:Taylor Martin is 18 years old. She is Mohawk, wolf clan and she attends Assumption College. When she gets older she plans on pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter.

Synopsis: A short film about the divide between non-native and native students at Parry Sound High School.
Bio: Myesha Emma-Lee Collins is 17 years old. She is trying to figure out who she is in this great big world.

Synopsis: The transition and adaptations of moving from a native school to a non-native school, to a mixed school.
Bio: Emily Hill is 16 years old and grew up in Six Nations. She is unsure of what career pathway she would like to pursue after highschool, she knows that she wants to move to New York.
