ProProfs Guidelines For Conduct
From Proprofs
We at ProProfs often get asked what the rules are for our forums and this site in general. We're a pretty friendly site, and we're open to contributions and opinions from all. However, that being said, we are an international community that has members from all types of backgrounds and age groups, so we do have certain guidelines about what's acceptable and appropriate for our community. Here's a breakdown of what we expect of our members.
The Basics:
1. Be clean & be ad-free. No spam, vulgar, religious/political or inappropriate language/pictures/attachments/links, and no advertising. We all have different opinions about the propriety of different things for different audiences, but here's a simple test: if you have to stop & think about whether it's appropriate for a young crowd, then it's probably not appropriate!
2. Be kind. As previously mentioned, we have members of all ages and all backgrounds, so slurs or insults or attacks will not be tolerated.
3. Be respectful of others' opinions & ideas. You do not need to agree with everyone & everything, but please disagree respectfully and without attacks.
4. Be meaningful. There are certain parts of the forums that require two posts to access. If you make meaningless "garbage" posts (for example: "wow," "great," or "this is my second post") to access that premium content, the posts will be deleted and you will be warned & it may result in suspension.
5. Be on topic. There are some topics that can be put into more than one forum or subtopic, but when posting, please try to choose appropriate titles, forums, categories, etc., and when replying please try to stay on topic of the original thread/comments.
6. Be legal. Brain dumps are not allowed. Please check your sources before posting to be sure they're legitimate and are not in violation of exam non-disclosure agreements, or they will be removed or the posts will be deleted.
7. Be legal (part 2). Copyrighted materials: please do not post copyrighted materials on this site without consent from the author. Just because something is posted on a public forum, it does not mean that the author has given consent to distribute the content.
8. Be current. Please don't resurrect threads from long ago and artificially "bump" your own threads solely for the purposes of increasing traffic. There are better & more meaningful ways to increase your post count and move up the member ranks. Please try to let sleeping threads lie, and consider creating a new thread that instead has a link to the old thread you want to reference.
This is by no means an all-inclusive list of do's & don'ts for ProProfs. It's merely a general guideline for conduct that will hopefully keep this site as what it's intended to be: a worldwide community to encourage learning and sharing. Please do all you can to keep this site one that we can be proud of!
