[edit section] Microsoft Certification Exam Testing Center Information

So you are ready to begin a rigorous testing regimen for the Microsoft certification exams, right? Your next step is to schedule a testing date at a Microsoft certification testing center – namely, at a Prometric testing site/center. Setting up a testing date sets in stone the timetable you need in order to prepare for the test and is obviously necessary to earn the certification you seek. Here’s a bit of information about registering for a test date.

[edit section] Online test registration

Prometric handles all of the Microsoft certification exams and so you will need to visit to www.prometric.com to handle your test registration. You need to go to “Schedule an Appointment” and choose an appropriate location for the test. Prometric has many test centers so availability is not usually an issue, but if you live in a rural area you may have to drive a considerable distance to reach a Prometric center. Next, you will need to choose a client and program that matches your needs – in this case, you should choose “Microsoft” as your client and “070, 071…” as your program. This program encompasses all of the Microsoft certification exams. Once you advance, you should be prompted to fill in all of the relevant information, including the test you plan on taking, the language, and the currency of payment. Finally, you will need to choose a date and time to take the test.

[edit section] Payment

Every Microsoft exam costs $125.00 to take one time. Every retake also costs the same amount. You will be asked to input payment information after choosing a test date and time and filling in the pertinent personal information.

[edit section] Re-takes

Microsoft allows you to freely re-take an exam (take the same exam a second time) at any time. However, your third sitting of the exam must happen at least two weeks after the last time you had taken the exam. Subsequent re-takes also require a two week layoff period. In any case, you may not ever re-take the same exam after passing it for any reason. Re-takes are priced the same as first takes.

[edit section] Vouchers and Discount Exams

If $125.00 seems a little pricey to you, that’s because it is! Dropping $125.00 to take an exam you may not even pass is a large investment and should serve as a huge motivation for your studies. However, several websites offer discount exam vouchers for interested candidates – these are typically exam “tickets” purchased in bulk at a lower unit price. A search in Google for “Microsoft exam vouchers” will give you a great number of results. Some of these voucher sites include: www.getcertify4less.com and www.itexamvouchers.com.
