The MCSE Exam 70-293 (Network Infrastructure) is a component of the Windows 2003 MCSE track.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) aspirants on the Microsoft Windows 2003 track are required to clear 7 exams, or the equivalent, including 5 Core exams and 2 Elective exams.

This exam will test you about Enterprise networks, network infrastructure, deploying and optimizing them, Enterprise security, Server roles and securing servers, server health and monitoring.


70-293 Exam Objectives:


  • Server Roles and Server Security
  • Planning, Implementing and Maintaining Network Infrastructure
  • Planning, Implementing and Maintaining Routing and Remote Access
  • Planning, Implementing and Maintaining Server Availability
  • Planning and Maintaining Network Security
  • Planning, Implementing and Maintaining Security Infrastructure

Following are the testing pattern followed in the 70-293 exam:


  • Hot Area Questions
  • Active Screen Questions
  • Drag-and-Drop Questions
  • Case Study–based Test Demo
  • Exams with Simulations

You will be required to score of 700 at least to be able to certify in this exam. There will be about 35 questions of the various mentioned formats to be answered within 2 hours.

[edit section] How to Prepare for Microsoft Certification

The best way to prepare for these exams is to have adequate studying time on the concepts and more than adequate time of hands-on in a simulated environment at least. It will be easier if you have already administered at least a small sized Windows 2000 network for about a year.


Dos:


1. Read all the white papers relating to the exam topics

2. Read as many technology magazine as you can get your hands on to ensure you are aware of all the latest technology available.

3. Practice as much as you can all the administrative tools

4. Try at least one simulation exam


Don’ts:


1. Don’t rely on brain dumps

2. Don’t be confident with just trying the simulation exam

3. Don’t appear for the exam after partial preparation
