In 1929 the Stock Market crashed in the United States. This wasn’t a natural disaster, but an economical disaster. Many people lost their jobs and had a hard time finding another job. Some people had trouble finding food for themselves and their children. These extreme hardships took place across the country. People did not know how they were going to survive. In the mid-1930s, a new president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, created many programs known as the New Deal to help people with food programs and organizations that would provide more jobs to people in order to get out of this Great Depression.
