I read in the posts about an aid used in remembering the Com, and LPT, I/O addresses, I added an additional string to the string i read. the Original string was. 323232 FFEE77 888888, I Added 434375 To my notes. this gave me.

Port-------I/O-----IRQ

Com 1-----3F8-----4
Com 2-----2F8-----3
Com 3-----3E8-----4
Com 4-----2E8-----3
LPT1-------378-----7
LPT2-------278-----5

Hope this helps some one else.

Thanks for the post. I've got a feeling, I'm going to need all the help I can get.

The little trick for the I/O addresses on the com and lpt ports helped before, but I can use your suggestion to build on it a little.

Thanks again,
Bill

Something that I learned from my Hardware professor:

To memorize the COM ports and their IRQs, just remember that the ODD number for the COM port goes with an EVEN IRQ number, and an EVEN number goes with an ODD number:

Com 1-----3F8-----4
Com 2-----2F8-----3
Com 3-----3E8-----4
Com 4-----2E8-----3

I haven't read of anyone who has encountered these in the new tests but it's easy enough to remember with that tip anyway.
