Just thought it would be interesting to know what (if any) video games you play.  I enjoy playing Xbox 360 every once in a while.  I just picked up Gears of War last week and it's a blast.  If anyone has Xbox Live and Gears of War, let me know; we'll play some co-op wink.gif

Anyone thinking about getting a Wii or a PS3? I'm content with the Xbox 360 still. smile.gif

Also, what do you think about the whole HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray fiasco?  Although Sony does have the better technology, I'm still not sure it will actually become the standard.

Let this be a little discussion about games, HD technologies, like 720p vs 1080p and all that.  This stuff is interesting (to me, at least). biggrin.gif

See, that was my ploy to lure you in. wink.gif Tennis is fun too.

Cbrzana:

Not many good games out for the 360? If you like RPGs, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is one of the best; I enjoyed it greatly.  The PS3 doesn't really impress me (I've played it; check your local Target).  If I had one on reserve right now, I would definitely sell it since they're going for nearly $2000.  The launch titles are bland, and since the 360 has games like Gears of War (one of the best games I've ever played) and Halo 3, I don't think it stands much of a chance.  I'm not some fanboy, I just think its the truth.  You're right with Nintendo; I'm not actually sure why they even bothered making a new console.

As for your HDTV: make sure you get one that has 1080p support and many HDMI inputs. wink.gif

I can't seem to get into games very often.  I tried getting into WoW and some other RPGs but I find I get bored after a day or 2.  Once it starts to "slow down" or get repetitive, unless theres a really good story.

Pretty much the only game I play these days is GT4.  Been playing it for years and will continue too.  I want a PS3 but only for the next GT game.

Halo 3 ain't out yet, Gears of War will be on PS3, and launch titles usually aren't too great, which is why I wait a while to buy a new system.

Gears of War won't be on the PS3 (Click ("Only on Xbox 360")).  It may come out for the PC, though.  Remember, this is a game from Microsoft Games.  The PS3 will have some good games though, and I'll probably end up buying one anyway.

Either way, it's a nice break to talk about something other than certifications -- thanks for starting this thread!

Agreed.

If you're thinking about getting a rear-projection TV, there may be some others you want to check out.  Like this Samsung, for example.  I don't have that TV, but I've seen it in person displaying 1080p content, and it was absolutely amazing compared to the other TVs there.

You really are awesome -- I can't believe how much the price has dropped on these things! This set is 1" bigger than the one I was looking at, and about $700 cheaper. Although I haven't fully researched HDTV's yet since I'm not going to be getting one for a while, this TV definitely looks promising. I really appreciate you sharing the link, so thanks again! yahoo.gif

No problem!  Don't get too excited though; you'll start to make me jealous with your fancy 1080p.  My setup consists of a 720p/1080i projector and a 120" screen.  Although it's nice as is, the step up to a 1080p projector would be awesome.  The bigger the screen, the more you notice 720p vs 1080p.  It's very hard to notice the difference on say... a 32" LCD.  They're just too much money, though. sad.gif

I don't have much time for games. After I get home from work, go workout, and eat dinner, it's like 9pm and all I want to do is sit around.

I still play a good bit of NCAA Football 07, it's fun.

I played Elder Scrolls 4 for PC, beat it twice. Loved it. Best single player RPG ever. May get back into it one day.

PS3 has games coming out that will be good. Theo nly knock on it is that NCAA football won't be out until JULY! Killzone 2 looks amazing. Google it.

A 120" screen???? YOWZA wacko.gif

It's not as bad as you think:

My projector, and my screen.  About $2300 total for a 120" HDTV.  If you got the room, it's the way to go.

The Wii costs $250, way less than M$ console or Sony's George Forman Grill. Nintendo is the only console that is makeing money, so how are they going down the drain? Sony's Blu-Ray is the biggest mistake they've ever made, the $600 price tag is their second.

Actually, you can buy an Xbox 360 for $300. Just $50 more for a console on a totally different level than the Wii.  Don't get me wrong, I think the Wii is awesome, and I will get one at some point, I just don't think you can compare it to the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.  I don't see a bright future for the PS3.  In fact, they're losing at least $200 on every console they sell (this is a fact). I'm not sure if Nintendo is selling the Wii at a loss or not, but I know Microsoft is not losing any money on their consoles.  You can see accurate sales for all three systems here. I would assume the Wii would have more than 8,000,000 sales a year from now, but I still think the Xbox 360 is one helluva deal for the hardware you get.  Plus, I think next-gen console gaming is truely about the integration of playing online.  Xbox Live has that one in the bag.

Why does xbox beat PS3?  Does sony's cost money or something?

and as for sales I dont think you can compare them accuratly for at least another year.  And you are forgetting the BIGGEST market, which is Asia.  And hate to say but Asia didn't buy many xboxs and they wont buy many 360s.   I think in the long run (+2years) PS3 will pass xbox and nintendo combined, just like the PS2 did, and its mostly due to Asia.

I personally don't own any of the next gen consoles yet.  I will be buying a PS3, but only for gran turismo.  If it wasnt for that game I would just stick to PC gaming.

Oh and yes, sony IS losing money on each console.  But so did microsoft on the first few as its normal (espcially with blueray being rare).  We'll see how things play out.

I like the xBox more personally, but mine isn't stock.

I've been playing some of the old Lucas Arts games like Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island.  Anyone else getting back into these oldies.

As for the Wii, those are just awesome.  My arms hurt every morning from boxing the night before.

haha the only game I have played lately is the original starcraft.  Its from like, 1998 I think.  I still enjoy it.

I've actually decided that a PS3 is too much money for how much I will ever use it.  We are trying to get a Wii instead but stores are still sold out here.

Good choice.  I was actually able to get a Wii at Walmart on the 6th.  They only had nine, so it was pretty cool.
