A working knowledge of word roots, prefixes and suffixes comes in so handy for both the reading passage section and the sentence completion section. The intention of this thread is to list SAT vocabulary words and the word roots that helped us figure out the definition of the word. The more common roots, the better.

To start:

Anthropomorphize
Roots: anthro=human    morph=form
Therefore, anthropomorphize is to give something human-like form or characteristics.

Anthropology
Roots: anthro=human   ology=study of
Therefore, anthropology is the study of human life/culture.

Misanthrope
Roots: mis=miso=hate       anthro=human
Therefore, a misanthrope is someone who hates humans.

Something that is anachronistic is occurring outside of its normal time period.
