Long story short i need help i know a good amount of computer basics. Have alot of on hands computer repair. fixed over 10 computers and built my own. Allthough i love fixing computers my true subject is security the bad thing is i have no expiernce with secutiry. Have gotten most of my software tools from ultimate boot cd, but i want to become legit with A+ and SECURITY+ certification. I want this because I love computers and since im 15 it will look very good on a scholarship application. Please dont under estimate me, because i am a TEEN i am very serious. I have worked with computers and have won over $1000 on all my work that i have done for family and friends and friends of friends. I do not have huge amount of money, i am actaully prettty poor so i will not be able to pay alot. My offer is material for both $50 to $75 but if it is a huge amount i will be willing to pay $100 please keep in mind i dont have alot of money thanks. Hi,
Welcome to the forums! As for selling you material, no one on the boards here does this. What's available on the boards is free for your own use. There are schools that will provide you material at a cost, but this will generally be near or above $500.
With that said, there is a lot of free material that's provided by this site as well as others. Professormesser.com/ is one such site that provides free videos as well as test exams. There may be others, but this is what I see a lot of people recommending.
Books are also available, and a good book with some online practice tests and material is generally all you'd need for study material. Beyond this, it would be good to see if you can find some older systems to study with as well as helping others with their computer problems.
Some suggested books:
CompTIA A+ 2009 In Depth - I've used this series of books for Server+ and found it excellent, so I recommend the series.
Mike Meyers - a lot of people seem to recommend his books. The one I linked to is for the upcoming test revision, due out sometime next October I believe. You should be able to find his 701, 702 books easily enough.
Eleventh Hour - I personally recommend the Eleventh Hour for review, once you've finished another book. They contain a lot of information in a very compact form, and they're cheap.
So at $100, you do have a lot of options for good training material. With that said, keep in mind that each attempt at an exam is around $130 (I believe) each, bringing the cost of A+ to $260 just by itself. Some books will come with a voucher though, that will reduce the cost. At any rate, hopefully this points you in the right direction, and good luck!
