Many of the members have posted great acrynomas and pneumonic devices to help memorize imporant concepts or processes. I have found that when I make something relate to my personel life, it's easier to remember cause it has to do with me specifcally, and not something that's made up. For instance, I was trying to remember the 9x boot process, so i listed the order down the page and took the first letter from each step. IO.SYS, MSDOSSYS, CONFIG.SYS, COMMAND.COM, AND AUTOEXEC.BAT. Theres been a girl I liked for a few years now, who I have always had a hot and cold relationship with and who I always seem to tick off one way or another. Her first name is Corinne and her last name starts with a C, so I used her name to help me remember the process. The boot process became I Make Corinne C Angry, Which is the same first letters as IO.SYS, MSDOSSYS, CONFIG.SYS, COMMAND.COM, AND AUTOEXEC.BAT. Another example is how I used her name to remember the printing process for hardware. She watched me play basketball when I was in high school a few years ago, so I remembered the printing process as Corinne C Watches David Take Freethrows
1. Cleaning
2. Conditioning
3. Writing
4. Developing
5. Transferring
6. Fusing

So, what Im trying to show and say, is that if you make a pnemonic devices personal, you're more likely to remember it as opposed to something you just made up because it has the same first letters as the process you're trying to memorize. If you incorporate actual friends, family, or events into your studying, you will find it much easier to remember most things

How about taking a stalker's approach.

I Make Cindy Crawford Anxious

I just find it easier to remember.
It helps that we share the same last name, and she is HOT!

:thankyou:Thank Heavens I found this site, I was getting seriously worried that I would never remember all this stuff. studying alone is hard and my mentors are next to useless and not all that helpful in this situation. I'm sure I can manage this course now that I have found some support.
Keep up the good work guys

Viscously dirty or hilarious acronyms are the best smile.gif Or ones associated with something you're interested in.

Dont pick ones that make you laugh in the exam hall though, and if you write them on the scratch paper dont have them being too rude biggrin.gif

This is very usefull. It really works. I Just passed the A+ Hardware today, and the Sweet Maria Kiss Me Closeley For Heavenssake saved me for a minute the along with the 323232-FFEE77 that you already know what they are if you read the A+ Hardware tips on this site. Cool one though!

I have one for port assignments:
for Frothy Tall Pale ale you must be 21 (FTP:21)
#23 Michael Jordan tells that net! (Telnet:23)
this Speed Means Trying Patience 25mph (SMTP:25)
How Tall the Tallest Pines? 80 feet (HTTP:80)
Nay, Not The Prettiest number, 119 (NNTP:119)
Susie sucked Luke 443 times! (SSL:443)

Not the prettiest mnemonics, but they work for me. I also drew various things like a bar sign for FTP, a mph sign for SMTP, a pine tree with 80ft next to it. It helps to associate words with symbols in any kind of studying, one glyph can contain alot of info.

Thanks,
