does anyone know if the PSAT can be taken before junior year? i would like to give it to my freshman son just to gauge where he's at.

i don't know if Freshmen can take it, but i took it my sophomore year.  Ask the school guidance office.  Hope that helps  smile.gif

Anybody under his or her junior year can take the test as long as the testing center/school has a test available.  My sister took the test as a freshman and tenth grader and blew the top out of it when she was a junior.   We wouldn't ask a football player to play for the state championship with no coaching and pre-playoff games, so why should a student take the PSAT unprepared?
