A while back, I started building a PC as a project. I had to go as cheap as possible and got an AMD Socket A (don't have the specs in front of me at the moment) processor. I had to unbend a few pins but then ran out of time to work on it.
Now that I'm ready to return to working on it,
what methods can I use to test the functionality of the processor or test if it even works?

I am sorry to say but bent pins are not a good thing to have. Not only will the processor most likely not work, it can be dangerous.
Spend a few $$ when you can. Thats my advice to you.

A processor is not only an option so, first band all the pins and you also have to find a best motherboard for this processor too which is totally pin-less and that's it.
