I am getting ready to go after the Server+ certification. My question is should I even bother?
This year I have already earned my A+, Network+ and Security+ certifications. Since the center of any LAN is its servers it seems to make sense that I had also better be Server+ certified.
Would an IT hiring manager hire someone to work around their servers who was not Server+ certified or better? It seems to me that earning this forth Server+ Certification would total the complete package.
I suppose my above questions where rhetorical so my real question is has anyone else considered this slippery slope CompTIA reality?

Cool!
"Either way you would have to show that you can do the job."
Common sense takes me back to my slippery slope argument.
My certifications show a degree of proof as to my competence but if I can't talk-the-talk during and interview then I have to assume that I would not really be considered for the position. The problem is that by the time I passed my Security+ certification I had become very rusty in terms of my A+ and Network+ subject material. So to do well in an interview I would need to go back and review all that material so I would be ready to carry on an intelligent conversation during the interview.
So here is my point. Since both the A+ and the Network+ material overlap a large percentage of the Server+ certification exam I might as well just study for the Server+ exam and kill two birds with one stone. I would be able to both have an intelligent conversation during the interview and throw-down the weight of having four certifications on my resume.
So I conclude it is a slippery slope because once you have a combination of the A+, Network+, and/or Security+ certifications it would then be a no brainier that you should also pick-up the Server+ certification.
Thank you for letting me think out loud as I talk myself into going after the Server+ certification.
