Wow, what a broad question my friend.  I think the best answer is "it's up to you"

It depends on your existing knowledge/experience of networks, OSI model, etc..... If you have a basic understand, I would study the Cisco Press or Sybex CCNA books and see how comfortable you are. Give it a month. You won't know until you dive in head first.

A better question would be to ask everyone who has their CCNA what overall IT/networking experience they had before they began studying for the CCNA and how much study time it took for them to pass the exam.

My local college site says generally takes a year to learn the material if you are new. But it has a total of 4 classes
(they based it on 1 class a quarter 3 months)

But I have seen people get it in 3-6 months with experience (which varies)
Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA)
MCP: 70-270, 70-290, 70-291
Comptia A+
Comptia Network+

Need the exam code? How about the objectives? Check out my small useful site with other exam info:

Wow!  What would you say you did differently to pass, Eric?  Do you mind sharing?  Did you use the materials you found on this site?

With the right motivation, I think the average "technical person" could go from basic network knowledge to CCNA in a couple of months.

Of course, it will depend on the time you have to spend on it, the resources you have access to, and you personally interest in the topics.
