Hey, y'all.

I've got a couple of questions.

First, I recently had Ubuntu 7.10 installed on a seperate partition because I heard that was a great starting Linux to get into.  Well, after a few weeks of it being installed, it ruined my MBR and I had to repair that.  Then the entire installation was corrupt so now I have to start over.

I was doing a bit of reading last night and read that OpenSUSE is the next "best" Linux Distro...  I'm not sure how much water that holds considering Linux Distro's are like Donuts and everyone seems to like something just a bit different...  Regardless, I started downloading that but it's taking foreeeeevvvvvvveeeerrrrrr.

So my two questions are these:

1. Do you suggest OpenSUSE or is there another Distro you suggest (and why, if you feel like it)?
2. Is there a faster way to download OpenSUSE than using bittorrent, which is going at 35KBps and going to take 20 hours...

Thanks, y'all. smile.gif

I've got OpenSuSe 10.3 running on a VM on my laptop right now.  I like it a lot.  (although not enough to defect from Fedora!   cool.gif )  If you're having trouble downloading it, there are a ton of websites that will mail you an ISO for $0.99 or so plus shipping.  If you don't have great bandwidth, it might be worth it.

I actually already have Fedora downloaded and just managed to see it...  I'm going to go ahead and install that and see how I like it.

I do not know how ubuntu ruined your mbr... OpenSUSE installs a completely new bootloader (grub). Every time I uninstall it I have to fixmbr. Wait now that I think about it... So does ubuntu... Both of these fxxxk up your windows install... Just have to learn how to fix windows boot... lol
