I'm about to start heading down the path towards MCSE, but I'm not sure which OS exam would be best. Thoughts anyone?
Which Test Should I Take 70-620 Or 70-270?

Thanks for the reply and congrats on passing
Hmm, my current position is only a temporary one, so I'm not sure what OS I'll be working with most in the long-term. I'm sure that in the short-term it would probably be XP though since many people haven't converted over yet.
As far as access to Vista goes, I have very little at the moment, but I plan on building a new PC with Vista by early Febuary. I could just use the next month to start studying for Security+ until I actually get a Vista machine. Since the time of my last post, I learned that taking the Vista test seems to automatically get you a MCTS cert, so I'm leaning in that direction.
Just curious, what book/material did you use to pass the Vista test?

I used the MS Press book too and thought it was very good. Also the guide on this site is great to study for the 620. Skrpune is correct that the 620 should be a bit easier as it doesn't cover any of the Enterprise applications of Vista like the 270 does with XP. I took the 622 afterward because thats the part I was really interested in.
If your heading for MCSE you could always do both as the 270 would be your OS and the 620 would be your elective. But personally I went with Vista as I know XP inside out alway as most people do by now and it will be better going forward considering its the OS exam required for the

What did you think about the 622? I am testing on the 31rst for the 622. I thought the 620 was one of the easiest MS exams I have ever taken, or maybe it was because I had overstudied for it. I used Trainsignal CBTs, MSPress book, Vista Resource Kit, Technet, MS labs, and a couple of months of hands on with Vista. I believe the old 210 was harder than the 620.
They are really more entry-level certs, but certainly does not hurt to have them under your belt and being thoroughly acquainted with Vista and the support processes are great notches to any IT technicians belt. I am really at odds whether to upgrade my MCSE because I just do not use it as much as I used to, but I certainly don't think the study time would be a loss. Maybe, I will gear up for that later in the year as I am working with more leadership/management studies in the first quarter of this year. Not too bad for someone in their fifties

The 622 was quite a hard exam but not quite as bad as the Exchange 2003. Just make sure you know wim images, Windows PE especially ImageX, controlling UAC via GP, how to setup event forwarding, bitlocker, Windows Firewall and conection security rules. Most of the stuff that comes up is stuff you've already covered at MCSE but with a Vista twist to it so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

xp is going to last for sometime.
so unless you are not going to work in the next 5 years, you will be safe with vista

I passed the 70-620 with virtually no studying via daily usage carry over from XP and using Vista since a bit before SP1. Personally I'd go with Vista as most of the knowledge is transferred between the two.

Better give Windows Vista 70-620.
because in Vista u'll have many things to learn & many new features advanced than XP Professional.
And also you'll get a new certification i.e MCTS instead of MCP.
Instead of MCSE you better ahead to give Examination on MCITP: Enterprise Administrator.
Do you hold any MS certification before like MCP, MCSA ...
