Well I'm pretty comfortable with ProProfs and right now with the money being tight I am just going to study from ProProfs.  I think they are great.

I'm in a time crunch to get my certification for a job I've applied for. I've worked in the technology field (mostly hardware related) for the last 5 years, but the exam is so complex and there is so much vocabulary I'm not familiar with. I've been studying, but I'm curious how long it takes most people to study before being able to take the exam. I'm nervous!!

has anyone actually read CompTIA A+ Certification Workbook for Dummies ? how would you rate it if you have; do you think it would provide a good overview >?

Thanks for the information - I ended up getting the Mike Myers' CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One and the Guide to Supporting Windows 7 for CompTIA A+ Certification.  Lots of reading to do and planning on taking the test in 2 1/2 months - hopefully.

I started on this track awhile ago but realized my knowledge base is outdated.  The practice tests confirmed I need to study! :)

I new to Comptia and looking for a career change from chip manufacturing. This forum is a great help.
I have managed to get a look at some of the comptia A + books and the one from Mike Meyers is defitely the most readable. He is like an old friend who just happens to be a geek!

Question: Can I pass the A+ exam after 2 weeks of review/studying?

I'm born in the computer age, I've built my own computer, fixed a couple BSOD's, took a couple programming classes in high school and a recent computer science course in the fall semester. I'm thinking maybe a CompTIA A+ certification may be the solid credential I need to move into a new job in my company as a computer technician.

If I study for say 2 weeks, with the limited knowledge of my aforementioned experience, do you think I could pass this exam? I have the Mike Meyer's certification guide, but on the weak side I have minimal experience with Macs. I'm extremely strong in windows though, I can do registry edits, and pretty much fix any bench-work problem of software problem.

I started prepping for the test about two years ago before getting side tracked with the MCP's.  I still have my two books: A+ Certification IT Professional from Microsoft and A+ Certification for Dummies.  I guess that I'll have to get back into the bookstore and get current.

That makes me feel better. I finished college last year and my boss had the Test Out CDs for me to use. I though I was almost ready for the exam until I found this site. Now I know there is no way I can pass without more sources. Thanks!

I have a question ... I have an MCP certification on Windows XP ... but it was a few years ago (2006) ... I wanted to take Comptia Network+ ... do I have to take Comptia A+ certification? Thanks ... :) ... I'm new to this forum ... Just the forum I've been looking for ... Good day!

Is there a certification to be an A+ instructor? I am thinking about teaching as a side gig.

When i first decided to get my A+ certification i didn't have any idea how in depth the test would be.  It is taking quite a bit longer to feel comfortable enough to take the exams than i had thought it would in the begining.

I'm working right now on studying for the 701/702.  Trying to get this done before 801/802 is generated and released later this year.
