I have taken both all of the cisco academy training in school Semesters 1 - 4, however never got to taking the exam back in 2004. I will be taking the 2 exam route since I want to focus my studies and actually learn the first, then second half because I want to get the CCNP shortly after.

I'll be going for the 1st exam, not sure about the 2nd.
Our class is studying for and taking the 1st exam as a sort of group project.
I don't really do a whole lot of switching or routing at work, so I'll be good with the
1st exam until I have a need for more in depth study. Maybe at recert time. Besides I really need to get back on the Sec+ study track and take that test.

I have attempted the single exam and failed 3 times.   sad.gif  Next time I may try the two exam route.

So sorry to hear that  sad.gif  Well, keep trying.  You sure to make it eventually!  Good luck!

I will be trying the two exam route next time as I have failed the one exam route twice due to running out of time mainly.

I will add my 2 cents here and say take it in 2 exams....
I sat the class last year and felt confident and ready, sat the first one
and failed it.  It was harder then I had ever expected and thought I was
more then adequeately prepared...
second time around (about a month later) I did get it  (CCENT).
I need to get my head in gear and do the second one, but not
working with it hands on makes it hard to stay focused...
(actually taking the A+ in a few days, should be easy but trying to study for that)
then I can get my head back into STP and vlans (and religion) to get ready for the 816

i need the two exam method, im unfortunately not bright enough to do it in one go!!!! max respect to those that have and passed!

even tho it's 2 exam fee's, i'd rather pass both first time and not have to pay more out.

saw your bump when i came to look around, i'm doing the 2 test route currently b/c it may cost a bit more in tests but i think you get a better grasp on everything, i just bought a lab kit and have gone through a bit of the ccent book and as long as you have the right tools, books, and do many different types of tests/labs/etc... not just one, you'll be ready

I plan on taking the one exam path because I feel very confident in my ability to take on this beast all on. I have years of hands on to back up my confidence. But i can understand others that would like to take the two test path.

Nice post and poll. I will plan to take 2 tests: icnd1 first then icnd2 thereafter because I feel networking is hard for me so I rather do step by step.
