Top Fluid Flashcards

A fluid is a substance that is capable of changing its shape at a steady rate when acted upon by a force. They include matter such as liquids, gases, plasmas, and plastic solids. Fluids display properties such as not resisting deformation, or resisting it only lightly, as well as the ability to flow. Did you know that fluids can be characterized as either Newtonian fluids or Non-Newtonian fluids?

The study of fluids is called fluid mechanics, which is a branch of physics. Fluid mechanics can then be divided into fluid statics, the study of fluids at rest, and fluid dynamics, which is the study of the effect of forces on fluid motion. Fluid dynamics has several subdivisions, including erodynamics and hydrodynamics. To learn more about fluids, check out these flashcards!
