World History Unit 3 Rome

The hills on the city of Rome gave it a natural barrier of protection. The river nourished the soil and made it good for farming.

A form of government in which the leader is not a monarch and certain citizens have the right to vote.

Fought because the Romans wanted to control Sicily and the western Mediterranean Sea.

First Dictator of Rome. This ultimately was the downfall of the Roman Republic since the power now rested in the monarchy. A reformed loved by the people but assassinated by rival Senators.

Golden age of literature in Rome.

The First Christian Emperor

Initially hard to accept for Romans because they already had a core set of beliefs. Also, Christians refused to worship the Roman emperor and were accused of plotting to overthrow the Roman empire.
