The Electoral College- Pros and Cons

The role of the electoral college resulting in poor voter turnout.

Failure to accurately reflect the national popular will.

Makes it hard for 3rd partys or independents to get a "foot in the door" in an election.

Over represents rural areas
Ex- as if october 16, 2012, obama had "control" of 17 states, whereas romney had 33 states, but obama was winning in the electoral vote by over 30 points.

The electoral college gives too many points to states with small amounts of people, such as montana and wyoming.
