Job Description
- manufacture, inspect & repair, test and refitting of life support equipment
-fitting and instruction on the operation of equipment
-pack, store and ID of life support and safety equipment
- explosive ordnance handling
-provide training and briefs to crew and passangers
-aircraft servicing, ground handling and replenishments
-instill aircrew with sense of confidence in the equipment
-critical to operational effectiveness of RAAF - vital to safety
Working Conditions
-normally comfortable climate controlled
-outdoor work required when on-aircraft maintenance or in field conditions during training exercises
-does not involve strenuous effort
-no requirement for speed but high accuracy
frequently interact wit other people-aircrew, passangers, other technical trades
Pay
IMT - $1321 f/n
IET - $1511 f/n
Completion IET - $1888 f/n
Allowances:
Trainee - $366 f/n
Service Allowance - $497 f/n (not while under training)
Uniform - $16 f/n

Requirements & IMPS
Aside from basic requirements:
-preffered to have manual license
-confident swimmer

- 1RTU RAAF Base Wagga
-10.4 Weeks
-adjust to military life
-learn basic knowledge and skills to perform future roles in RAAF
-Develop values and attitudes required for RAAF members
-drill, weapons handling, fitness etc
-classroom lessons - history and awards RAAF and ADF
-gun - F88 Steyr
-Graduate as Airwoman
IET's
-RAAF Base Wagga
-26.2 Weeks
-basic handskills needed to remove/install and maintain life support equipment
-training with industrial sewing machines
-how to present a brifing to audience
-OH&S issues
-graduate as Aeronautical Life Support Fitters Grade 1
Further Training
- After IET training a minumum 12 months is required before trainees are eligible to progree to advanced aeronautical life support fitter
