Appraisal
Impartial analysis and evaluation conducted according to established criteria to determine the acceptability, merit, or worth of an item.
Internal recruitment

Workforce planning
identification and analysis of what an org. is going to need in terms of the size, type, and quality of workforce to achieve its goals.. determines what mix of experience, knowledge, and skill is needed and sequences to get the right # of right people in the right place at the right time.
Job description
A broad, general, and written statement of a specific job, based on the findings of a job analysis. includes duties, purpose, responsibilities, and working conditions of a job
Job specification
A statement of employee characteristics and qualifications required for good performance of assigned duties and tasks making up a specific job.
Job analysis
Detailed examination of the tasks that make up a job, conditions under which they are performed, and what the job requires in terms of aptitudes), attitudes knowledge, skills, and the physical condition of the employee.
Contingency theory
based on the theory that there is no official best way to manage b/c every situation and manager is different.
Tele-working
a working method where an employee works at home on computer, and sends the finished material back to the central office by modem.
Democratic leader
Involves a team guided by a leader where all individuals are involved in the decision-making process to determine what needs to be done and how it should be done. The group's leader makes the final decision of the group.
Accountability
The obligation of an individual or organization to account for its activities, and accept responsibility for them.
Bureaucracy
System of administration marked by its clear hierarchy of authority, division of labor, written and inflexible rules, regulations, and procedures, and impersonal relationships. Once instituted, bureaucracies are difficult to dislodge or change.
Centralization
