The 1st General Order is to take charge of this post and all designated property in view.

The 2nd General Order is to walk this post in a military manner and observe everything that takes place within sight or hearing.

The 3rd General Order is to report all violations of the orders I am instructed to enforce.

The 4th General Order is to repeat all calls from other posts.

The 5th General Order is to quit my post only when properly relieved.

The 6th General Order is to receive, obey, and pass on to the sentinel who relieves me all orders from the Commander, Officer of the Day, all officers, and non-commissioned officers of the guard.

The 7th General Order is to talk to no one except in the line of duty.

The 8th General Order is to give alarm in case of fire or disorder.

The 9th General Order is to call the sergeant of the guard in any case not covered in my instructions.

The 10th General Order is to salute all officers, colors and standards not encased.

The 11th General Order is to be especially watchful at night, and in times of challenging, challenge all persons on or near my post.

The 12th General Order is to use no force or show of force in the execution of my duties.
