The purpose of descriptive writing is to
Paint a mental picture of an object or someone by "showing and not telling"
Why should the writer use the "Show, Don't Tell" strategy when writing in the descriptive mode?
When you use this strategy you choose colorful and specific language or vague or general language. You specifically use language that appeals to the senses.
