1. Explain Procedure2. Before assisting to stand, ensure client is wearing shoes3. Before assisting to stand make sure bed is at safe level & bed wheels are locked4. Assist Client to sitting position with feet flat on the floor5. Apply transfer belt securely over clothing/gown6. Provide instructions to enable client to assist in standing with prearranged signal7. Stand facing client position self with one foot between clients legs8. on count of three, gradually assists client to stand by grasping transfer belt on both sides (clients hands should be on your shoulders)9. Client's arm is positioned with palm up & upper arm exposed4.Feel for brachial artery on inner aspect of arm, at bend of elbow5. places blood pressure cuff snugly on client's upper arm, with sensor/arrow over brachial artery site6. Stethoscope is in place7. Inflate cuff between 160mm Hg to 180mm Hg (If beat heard immediately upon cuff deflation, completely deflate cuff) Re-inflate cuff to no more than 200mm Hg or brachial pulse was last heard or felt8. Deflate cuff slowly and notes the first sound (systolic reading), and last sound (diastolic reading) If rounding needed, measurements are rounded UP to the nearest 2mm of mercury9. Remove cuff10.
