What three characteristics must a psychological disorder have?
It must be deviant, dysfuncitonal, and distressing.
Neurosis

Mood Disorders: Major depression
Affects women more than men, creates feelings of worthlessness, lost of interests with friends and activities, diminished pleasure, inability to concentrate, and thoughts of suicide.
Mood Disorders: Bipolar Disorder
Wild swings between mania and depression, it is very treatable and only 1% of the population has it, it is strongly genetic.
Mood Disorders: Seasonal Affective Disorder
When there is no sun, severe drops of seretonin occurs, thus depression.
Somatoform Disorder
Has a physical symptom but no medical cause
Somatoform Disorders: Conversion Disorder
Converting severe forms of anxeity into a physical symptom.
Somatoform Disorders: Hypocondria
Being sick and thinking you are going to die.
Schizophrenia
Has symptoms of disorganized thinking, "word salad", and innappropriate emotional resposes

Delusions, which are false beliefs, and hallucinations
