Define Indentured Servents
They were european immigrants who had their way of passage to the New World paid for by a richer immigrant. They would in turn have to work for this person for an agreed upon amount of years.
Define: Trade and Navigation Acts
The navigation acts restricted forgein trade between the English colonies and other nations aside from Great Britain. The goal was to obtain more power over the colonies.

The first governing document of the Plymouth colony in New England north of cap cod.

One of the first advocates for religious freedom and the seperation from church and state. Created first babtist church of America. From Providence, 1603-1683.
Define: Great Puritan migration
1620-1640 The period of time when many English settlers came to the New World and West Indies in search for religious freedom and prosperity, mainly came in singles hoping to gain money and return home.
Define: New England Confederation
Created in 1643 a short lived alliance between the English colonies of Massachutes, Plymouth, New Haven and Conneticuit, mainly in defense against Native Americans.
Define: Freedom of consciences
Ones freedom of thought and ability to have individual viewpoint.
Who was Jonathan Edwards?
A great leader in the first Great Awakening and adovacate of Calvenism, a follower of Whitefield.
Define: Halfway covenant
A covenant in the english colonies that gave the people partial acceptance to the purtian church. Those who held the halfway covenant weren't allowed to vote or take communion.
Define: Salem with trials
The Salem Witch Trials took place in 1692, where a series of trials were held to condemn those accused of "witch craft" people were hung and sent to prison. This is an example of extreme mass hysteria and the dangers of isolationism and extreme religon.

Who was William Penn?
Established Pennsylvania in 1681, was a strong believer in religous toleration and followed a Quaker form of government.
Define: Charter Colonies (Royal and Propierity colonies)
Colonies estabalished after the King gave a charter that held governing rules and laws for the people to obey in their new homes. Colonies such as Rhode Island, Conneticut, and Massachutes.
Define: Peter Zenger Trial
In 1746 this trial was crucial towards the American ideal of freedom of press. Zenger's lawyer was Andrew Hamilton.
Define: King Phillip's War
The first real war between the New England immigrants and Native Americans. Named after the leader of the indians, the rebellion was a great calamity for the New Englanders in 1675-1678
