Spelling Rule For Suffix Plus Silent E

The spelling rule applies if the base word ends in a silent-e. In this rule, the emphasis is on the letter that starts the suffix. When adding a suffix that begins with vowel, hide the silent-e then add the suffix. When adding a suffix that begins with a consonant, keep the silent - e in the base word, then add the suffix.
