The object will remain at rest until a certain force is applied to it. If the object is very heavy, then it will take a lot more effort and more force before it can be moved from its position. Take note that there are some objects that will be easier to move like the ball.

A ball is very easy to move because it does not have any edges. Even the slightest push will be enough to make it move. It will only be confined to a small space when it is surrounded by walls. Take note that all objects can be at rest. A lot of the inanimate objects that you have at home right now are not moving.

Until an unbalanced force occurs.

Motion requires an unbalanced force. If an object isnt moving, the forces acting on it are balanced. Once the force is unbalanced, motion will occur.
