They had to run from the law. In the book Of Mice and Men, Lennie touched the red dress that a girl was wearing. While the girl is yelling, Lennie does not think to let go of it, but instead he holds onto the dress, all while the girl is screaming.

He held onto the dress because he is obsessed with soft things. Her dress was soft, which is why he liked it in the first place. However, she fibbed and told the authorities that she was raped. Her lie made it that Lennie and George had to flee from authorities.

George and Lennie left the last place they were at because they had to run from the law. This scene occurs in the famous English novella that is written by John Steinbeck and it is named “Of Mice and Men”. This novella was first published in 1937 and it follows the story of two migrants named George Milton, and Lennie Small.

They move around various places around California searching for job opportunities while the great depression of the United States of America. This novella is considered as one of the most widely read works in America literature and is commonly taught to students.
